Ireland's Electric Car

A group of Irish designers and auto engineers working with universities have designed a two seat electric car.  Currently in development for field testing, he idea has garnered considerable interest in the industry.

Their At It Again

Last Monday, members of a New York group called the Satanic Temple joined Harvard students to hold a "black mass" at a Chinese restaurant in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The absurdity of the event belies the controversy that led up to it, as the ceremony - a quasi-religious parody of a Catholic Holy Mass - was originally scheduled to be sponsored by a Harvard University student organisation and held on campus. About 50 people, mostly dressed in black and some wearing face makeup, and a woman in lingerie  were present for the ceremony.  Welcome to America.

Lord of the Rings (sidebar)

Marquette University purchased the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, and other Tolkien writings for a pittance in the 1950's.  Tolkien was a seriously devout Mackerel Snapper so maybe that was an influence.  Wonder if they still have the originals?

Heroes Collecion

Members of the French Resistance are photographed in the midst of battle against German troops. Most strikingly, we see a woman in shorts, a patterned top, and a military hat in the center. Her name was Simone Segouin, also known by her nom de guerre Nicole Minet. When this photo was taken she was 18 years old. The girl had killed two Germans in the Paris fighting two days previously and also captured 25 German during the fall of Chartres. She was involved in armed actions against enemy convoys and trains, attacks against enemy detachments, acts of sabotages etc. A national hero, she died aged 89.
