Heros series

Irene Sendler, nee Wzyżanowska),  nom de guerre "Jolanta" (15 February 1910 – May 2008),was a Polish social worker and humanitarian who served in the Polish Underground during World War II. Pretending to be a plumber working to prevent dysentery in the Warsaw Ghetto, she hid more than 2500 Jewish infants at the bottom of her tool box or in a trash bag in the back of her truck.  Deathly afraid of dysentery, guards never searched her. Children were then placed in Catholic orphanages with Christian names, taught Christian practices but not baptized. Tortured by the Gestapo she revealed nothing.  Nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize she lost to Al Gore and his book on Global warming. Can you imagine?
