William Hitler, son of Adolf's brother, served in the US Navy during the second world war. Wounded in combat, he received the Purple Heart. Born in the UK, he lived in Germany during the 1930's. After immigrating to the US he had to personally petition President Roosevelt for permission to join the military. He died on Long Island in his 70's.
