Another Brilliant But Useless Factoid

Deep in the archives of Yale University's Babylonian Collection lie three small clay tablets with a particular claim to fame - they are the oldest known cookery books, nearly 4,000 years old. Covered in minute cuneiform writing, they did not give-up their secrets until 1985, when a French linguist, who also happens o be a master chef, translated them.  The main ingredient in the many dishes is onion.  In fact onions, including garlic, shallots and hundreds of variations, are the most common vegetable in the world, grown in more than 175 countries. They are a mainstay of most  cuisines and have been for thousands of years. I'll take mine fried, please.
