solar powered trees

found in singapore

An imposing canopy of artificial trees up to 50 meters is high towering over a vast urban oasis.
The colossal solar-powered supertrees are found in the Bay South garden: it is part of a 250-acre landscaping project -- Gardens by the Bay -- that is an initiative from Singapore's National Parks Board that sees the cultivation of flora and fauna from foreign lands.
The man-made mechanical forest consists of 18 supertrees that act as vertical gardens, generating solar power, acting as air venting ducts for nearby conservatories, and collecting rainwater. To generate electricity, 11 of the supertrees are fitted with solar photovoltaic systems that convert sunlight into energy, which provides lighting and aids water technology within the conservatories below.

height of U S presidents

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a]faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully."

hermits aren't gone

A hermit who lives in a remote mud hut made from foraged materials including a leaf mattress has been ordered to leave the property.
Daniel Pike created his house from clay and other items in the middle of Merry Hill forest, a 76-hectare stretch of woodland around two miles from Watford, north London, after being made homeless four years ago.
The 28-year-old made window frames and a bath out of driftwood, and even fashioned a small hole to make an indoor fire in a bid to make the house habitable.

moses' silver trumpets

Moses had two (2) silver trumpets made in the desert. These were used to call the Hebrews to worship, lead the Jews into battle, sound out alarm, and tell the group the direction to travel.

jpr: this tells of much precious metals among  a very large number in his followers.

biggie tomb in China

The site includes three streams, and his coffin is encased in a bronze sarcophagus. The floor of the central burial chamber floats on rivers, lakes and seas of mercury…The vaulted ceiling is inlayed with pearls and gems to emulate the sun, moon and principle stars of the constellations in the night sky. Whale oil lamps are brightly lit for an everlasting effect of illustriousness.

There is a perimeter of one mile around a man made mound. Beneath is a  building 246 x 246 x 90 ft with a burial room underneath. Tomb of China s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang ...yet to be exhumed.

Old but still entertaining

Death Valley Days is an American radio and television anthology series featuring true stories of the old American West, particularly the Death Valley area. Created in 1930 by Ruth Woodman, the program was broadcast on radio until 1945 and continued from 1952 to 1970 with reruns (updated with new narrations) through August 1, 1975.  Currently its being rerun on GRIT and  various networks, making it one of the longest-running western programs in broadcast history. The series was sponsored by the Pacific Coast Borax Company (20 Mule Team Borax, Boraxo) and hosted by Stanley Andrews, alias "the Old Ranger" (1952–1963), Ronald Reagan (1964–1965), Rosemary DeCamp (1965), Robert Taylor (1966–1969).  Stories are timeless and well worth watching.

U decide!

On a midwinter day on a slick highway a car slides off the road as it drives down a hill, rolls into a ditch and is destroyed. A 70 something woman collects her belongings and moves up the hill back to the road. There she finds a car stopped. The driver had witnessed the incident.

"Are you okay?" He asked as the snow was falling.
"I'm fine!" The lady answered unruffled. "I need a ride back to my house."

jpr: not the outcome to which one is accustomed. The lady was my Aunt Agnes and miracles were her companions.

irish gallowglasses ,c 1250 -1600

The gallowglasses (also spelt galloglass, gallowglas or alloglas; from Irish: gall √≥glaigh meaning foreign warriors) were a class of elite mercenary warriors who were principally members of the Norse-Gaelic clans of Scotland between the mid 13th century and late 16th century. Their weapon of choice was the ax and they preferred death to defeat on the battle field. They were the potent result of the inter-breeding of Scottish Gaels with the Norse settlers who colonised the Scottish isles.

hanging pillar

The Veerabhadra Swamy Temple is calm, serene and has preserved its sanctity. The outer portion has a massive Dance Hall with numerous pillars supporting the roof. One corner pillar is the famous ‘hanging pillar‘ that does not touch the temple floor at all. Passing a cloth beneath the pillar is said to bring one prosperity in life
