Global Warming Am I Naysayer Is

1,  There is no scientific evidence that "climate change" is endangering Polar Bears.  Al Gore's assertion to that effect was a fabrication.  He cited an advanced copy of a study of Polar Bear deaths in the Beaufort Sea.  The study gave no support for global warming and polar bear threat.  It cited 4 bear deaths that were caused by winter storms.  And the Beaufort Sea Ice cover has actually increased in the last decade.
2.  There is clear evidence that Mars has also been undergoing a steady  "global warming" as shown in measurements of the Polar CO2 ice caps, which have been decreasing.  This obviously cannot be a man made change.
3.  There are indications though no systematic collection of data as of yet, that other planets in our Solar System and their moons have been undergoing similar changes.
4.  We are in danger of making social and economic decisions affecting the world's people with no conclusive body of science as to cause and effect; and less knowledge of the benefit or destruction that our remedies will have.
The plants on the right were subjected to increased levels of CO2 over a 30 day period..

My take on SCOTUS rulings - disappointed.

This doubles my odds of entering another disastrous marriage!   But on the flip side it also doubles my chances of being able to borrow some beer money from my wife/husband.

On a serious note, the SC ruling overturns DOMA and allows for benefits, tax breaks, etc. for bona fide marriages,  but it does not alter the rights of States to determine if and when same-sex marriage is legal.

Conspiracy Balloon! See if it floats.

I love the machinations of underworld of US "government".  There are those that wonder if Mr Snowden is actually a agent provacateur of the CIA or DIA.  Here's the thinking:  there are dozens of covert, secret agencies with the US Gov't doing all sorts of necessary stuff but also some chicanery of the worst sort.  All one has to do is think back to J Edgar Hoover and his FBI to understand the potential problems that might occur when one or another agency becomes autonomous and powerful.  Everyone within government feared J Edgar. He had trash on everyone and he had an elite powerful organization.   When he died, the US Gov't hurried to enact changes in the organization, hierarchy, and accountability specifically to prevent another similar scenario.

The NSA and its enforcement arm (CSS), according to some of my inside sources, seems to be positioning itself to be Numero Uno and out-of-reach of Government and other Security Agencies.  Par Example, NSA has an underground city/fortress in Maryland.  It houses @20000 people or is capable of such with all the services and features a small city might have.  It also has a well-armed security force which consists of jet fighters, tanks, and hi-tech weapons.  The facility is also fortified with anti-tank barriers!  Caesar Keith Alexander may currently be the most powerful individual in the world.

So in an effort to de-nut, at least somewhat, the NSA Czar, Snowden becomes a whistleblower on behalf of CIA, DIA, who knows?

TWA Flight 800 crash not due to gas tank explosion, former investigators say

The producers of an upcoming documentary on TWA Flight 800—which exploded and crashed into the waters off Long Island, N.Y., on July 17, 1996, killing all 230 people on board—claim to have proof that a missile caused the Paris-bound flight to crash. And six former investigators who took part in the film say there was a cover-up and want the case reopened.

Florida Python Hunters

Those who caught a giant  18' Burmese python collected a $1,000 prize. The giant snake was released back into the Everglades.  The python was outfitted with a pair of transmitters in order to show state officials where to find snakes hiding in the wild and lead them to breeding females.

Snakes in Florida

Naples, Fla. - Two Naples residents came across a 10 foot python late at night. Wildlife officials say that the big snakes, which prey on a number of threatened and endangered species from wading birds to wood rats, have reproduced faster than hunters can kill them.

GOOD ONE

Last Tuesday, as President Obama got off the Helicopter in front of the White House, he was carrying a baby piglet under each arm.. The squared away Marine guard snaps to attention, Salutes, and says: "Nice pigs, Sir." The President replies: "These are not pigs. These are authentic Arkansas Razorback Hogs. I got one for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and I got one for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi." The squared away Marine again snaps to attention, Salutes, and says: "Excellent trade, sir."

The Fuller's Field

A place outside Jerusalem where the prophet Isaiah met with King Ahaz of Judah. In ancient Israel, fulling (the cleansing and thickening of cloth) was performed near a main water source such as a spring, a large cistern or a pool. In Jerusalem, the fuller's field was situated near the Upper Pool a site which apparently provided adequate space for the professional fullers to spread their long sheets of material for bleaching.

This is the view of what is called "Hezekiah's Pool" Some consider this to be the pool mentioned in Isaiah 36:2 and 2 Kings 18:17 where Sennacherib's field commander met Hezekiah's men "at the aqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Fuller's Field.". It is located in the Christian Quarter of Jeruslaem . At one time the courtyard around the reservoir was encircled with inns and rest stops for travels and royal couriers. Today these buildings are workshops and up until recently the pool was used as a trash dump. The site has never been excavated but there are plans to do so in the future.

A Man of Mikey's Liking.

Last week, on British TV, the well know political analyst and commentator Andrew Neil attempted to interview the father of American conspiracy theorists Alex Jones.  The results were eye opening and hysterical.  Anyone seeking the real truth must watch this video.

Is his GF a looney pole dancer? I predict:

the Patriot Edward Snowden will be the target of the most awful lies and aspersions in an effort to discredit him as a turncoat wacko loser.  But the truth has escaped already and that's the important thing.

POTUS' job description

Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Ben Franklin sez...

New Favorite Hero?

The U.S. intelligence community, he wrote, "will most certainly kill you if they think you are the single point of failure that could stop this disclosure and make them the sole owner of this information." - Edward Snowden to Barton Gellman.

Freedom and liberty and rights dribble away every day in the name of "security".  The Constitution is what POTUS is sworn to defend and protect, not our Security.  That's nowhere in his job description according to the Founding Fathers.

What is the word to describe...A Poem by Mikey

In regard to my poetry, a lot of folks ask "Why do you even bother?" or "When will you stop, please?"; "How the hell did you come up with that one?".  It's not easy but rest assured my friends, there is no bottom to my poetry well.  As long as I can, I will follow the muse.

What is the word

what is the word
to describe
that space,
that rests complaint-less
between ecstasy
and delirium;
gap containing stillness
and quiet, and sparkless
emptiness.

Oh, you must know,
its similar to the cobweb in the
corner half in light
half in shadow
in the old homestead.
on a gentle hill,
alone in the crisp snow of a
(A Wyeth)
Pennsylvania winter,
sharp edges of
black and brown
brilliant if that word can be used,
brilliant earth tones and brilliant
darks  to cause a
hitch in our breathing
a gamy nostalgic limp
in our soul's gait
for something cherished
after its gone.

A bit like the unnamed turn
of glee and loss orbiting
 the same center point -
school is out for the summer
the sun only in that spot once
forever
a dynamic within building
building building and no one
teaches us what to do,
no one knows what to do.
The teacher clearing out
the detritus of the term
the handyman's broom
clearing the corners one
last time
they feel it in the quiet
as particles of
sun lit dust hover before them.

If I can find the word and
not just the near misses
but the sense felt together
at once by blood and breath
of wist and depth
If i knew the word, if it is,
I can know what we were,
it was there all along, that
free fall zone
a nostaglic sense of loss for
something that never was
that i saw even
when you were with me
and there is no word for it,
mercifully.

PS I didn't fool around much with punctuation and the like, but will if the editor asks.

How to Catch a Fly - climbing back to the top of the animal kingdom - Part Two

The prevailing technique assumes that ones kinesiology of shoulder, tricep, forearm, and wrist  is fast enough to catch the fly virtually in the same spot it was when you decided to catch it.  The fly has limitless possibilities of direction.  It will not stay put; it is not going down (a dead end); and will not be moving laterally; the fly's first move is invariably UP.   The lateral sweep must be executed almost instantaneously to capture the fly before it moves.  The muscle and joint moves involved take too long and the fly escapes, always.

How to Catch a Fly - climbing back to the top of the animal kingdom - Part One

Part One - How to catch a Fly by hand
The most common approach is one that's been used practically since the beginning of humanity.  It involves a lateral movement of hand, arm, elbow, and shoulder in an effort to grasp the fly from its spot in front of you as it hovers over your beans.  Millions of generations of flys have evolved to the point that they easily outmaneuver this futile attempt.  The product of thousands of generations of human evolution and used by 99% of all humans, it iss also the least effective, resulting in a catch-rate of between 4 and 7 % on the best of days by the most nimble.  Most go through life and no matter how often they try, never catch a fly..
In Part Two I will provide further analysis of the mechanics, and describe a proven method of catching a fly.

Tune of Heavenly Home by Wei Zhuang (903-960)

              Outing in spring,
Almond flower petals in the air.
The wind lent them wing,
To adorn my hair.
Whose youth is that over there?
Perfectly handsome and fair!
I intend to condescend
Myself, offering him my hand
For life, and then,
Even if I be cast aside in the end,
There’s no cause for me to repent.

Dear Diary

5th of june, 2013

While taking my daily walk, strolling through the sedate local cemetary, musing about a number of things profound and simple both, lost in peaceful reverie in the midst of flowers, newly mown grass, and birds chirping under a clear blue sky,  I walk past a marker and suddenly hear music, the Speak Softly Love (the theme from the Godfather movie) playing loudly in a tinny rattle.  I am startled momentarily, wondering if someone was buried with their cellphone and that music was the ringtone, and the poor bloke is getting an important call and is unable to answer. Then I realize that one of the graves has this feature somehow rigged to the plot so that when one passes nearby, the music plays..  I'm not sure how I feel about that.  First, what significance does that music have for the person lying beneath the marker?  Are they mafioso?  Are they a Marlon Brando fan?  Are they trying to send a message from their dead self?  I dunno but it quickly occurred to me that if this is a burgeoning trend then cemeteries and graveyard will become cacophonous acres such as only imagined before in Dante's Inferno.  Opera, bluegrass, audio books, punk rock,  john phillip sousa, Wayne Newton, David Hasseloph, and on and on - a no limit no boundaries crap-fest of favorite tunes, screeches, and din.  I myself was planning on being cremated and stored in an urn or a tin or a bean can.  Not now though!  I want to be interned in a humus plot and I want a endless loop tape of Iron Butterfly's In a Gada Da Vida as loud as can be.

Is Reality just a Computer Simulation?? Huh?

Currently 2 major lines of thought vie for the best description of the Universe, Field Theory (such as the thoughts of Steven Hawking) and String Theory.  The latter seems to have been publicly derided in some circles of scientists as a collection or entanglement of ideas and math that no one can make sense of.  This of course is disputed by the string theorists, who include such minds as Michio Kaku and James Gates.  The world holds its Gaiaic Breath waiting for me to weigh in on the debate.  I haven't got a fig's clue about any of it.  I'm retired.  However, it is interesting, if not disturbing, that the esteemed James Gates is reporting that certain string theory, super-symmetrical equations, which describe the fundamental nature of the Universe and reality, contain embedded computer codes.  The code, a series of 0's and 1's resembles "checksums", the computer code used to verify the accurate transmission and receipt of digital  computer information. Professor Gates poses the question "might we be in a virtual reality, a computer simulation, like in the Matrix?"  OOOOOOHHHH!
