Happy St George's Day.

April 23 was St George’s day.  Celebrated as the patron saint of Aragon, Catalonia, Georgia, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, Germany, Greece, Moscow, Istanbul, Genoa and Venice, and England.  Although he never set foot in any of them. History shows, he was born in Cappadocia, Turkey around AD270 and was martyred at Nicomedia, or Lydda, modern day Israel, in the Roman province of Palestine in AD303 for refusing to abandon Christianity and worship a new Roman God.  Legend holds he was tortured for seven years and died 3 times to be reviewed by St. Michael each time.

JP better check under your bed $$$$

A collection of about 100,000 toy soldiers and even more accessories - amassed over a lifetime and stored in a garage - is to be auctioned off. The hoard, which filled a double garage in Brislington, Bristol, belonged to Carmelo Mazzotta who died in 2016.The 55-year-old began his collection of soldiers, tanks and planes when he was just eight. Split into 400 lots, it is expected to fetch $50,000 at auction on Saturday.

I checked My DNA; cost less than $100, but was it worth it? or "I Can Handle the Truth - I just don't want to Know the Truth!!"

Charting one's Ancestry is a fascinating endeavor; often challenging it's always enlightening, grounding, and worth the time and effort.  Having one's DNA studied, however, maybe you should've stopped one step earlier.
"You are descended from a long line of Gullible's who worshiped at the Altar of the god, Penury.  Members and descendants of this clan are no longer considered to be part of the Public.  BTW only Certified Checks will be accepted in future transactions.  "*

(*Note:  image idea stolen from Niece; fortunately her ancestry varies from the above.)

Vernal Pool

Vernal pools, also called vernal ponds or ephemeral pools, are temporary pools of water. They are usually devoid of fish, and thus allow the safe development of natal amphibian and insect species. Certain tropical fish lineages (such as killifishes) have adapted to this habitat specifically, however.
Most pools are dry for at least part of the year and fill with the winter rains or snow melt. Some pools may remain at least partially filled with water over the course of a year or more, but all vernal pools dry up periodically.
They are called vernal pools because they are often, but not necessarily, at their peak depth in the spring ("vernal" meaning of, relating to, or occurring in the spring).

I AM SOMETIMES IN A PLACE, A DIMENSION , THAT I DON'T RECOGNIZE AND DON'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO FIND A EXIT; I SAY "A" EXIT AND NOT "AN" EXIT BECAUSE I AM IN A PLACE I DON'T RECOGNIZE NOR UNDERSTAND

ode to a Berserker; perhaps a lament

I'm working with but
haven't perfected, not yet
grand, sweeping, overwhelming emotions
irritable, restless, and discontent.

when a young man
was I required to be
muscular and lean
no I could still have some affection of
my sisters and mothers
 I could have made things
fabricated a woolen cap
threaded  beads
fabricated a useful flask
from some sort of sow
some dead mammals pouch
a brush, a comb,
a looking stone
hell I coulda made some
i could have cast rings
and assorted decorative things;
hung up rabbits, squirrels,
feathery or scaly things
let them expire
let their last breath
whisper to mother earth
then be still and dry
and be gobbles for my mother
my sister and brother
my bairns
and assorted 4 legged furry friends.

not tall, nor wide
though my
biceps big as your thighs
so I've been told
"hey man hows cum your arms are so big"
these muscles just a venue
not the final prize
not an end in themselves
 look at me
ask how is it my arms,
biceps came to be this size
viking blood
red meat and drink and
what?

lots of drink and red meat,
lack of focus,
general mayhem,
kernel of honor
tiny bit of respect
and a healthy workout routine
you bet -
throttle, kill, crush
and destroy.
lift, overthrow, cleave,
hammer, bash,
squish em like a fookin bug
then repeat

my heart is pure
mostly pure
depends on the humidity
and other factors with
which I disagree.

Another useless factoid

Eamon De Valera, one of Ireland’s most influential figures, Prime Minister, President, military commander at the Easter Rising and much more, was born in NYC to an Irish immigrant mother named Coll.   Her brother lived in Washington CT, and the sister and baby used to visit. When Eamon’s Spanish father died, Coll sent his sister and Eamon back to Ireland where Eman was raised by his grandmother. Eamon would visit his Washington relatives when he came to the US during his long political career.

Irish Sayings and Death

Death is the poor mans doctor.

When death comes it will not go away empty.

Both your friend and your enemy think that you will never die.

Always Marry An April Girl

Praise the spells and bless the charms,
I found April in my arms.
April golden, April cloudy,
Gracious, cruel, tender, rowdy;
April soft in flowered languor,
April cold with sudden anger,
Ever changing, ever true --
I love April, I love you.

He married an Irish princess who brought her distiller with her.

Spending my "White Privilege" , Part One.

Appalachia was for a long time often associated with Coal and Poverty.  Probably moonshine and hillbillys too.  We have added Drug Addiction (opioids for the most part) to the "GOT Shield of Arms" for Appalachia.  Some places in WV (Huntington) have been called the "OD Capital of US.  Also probably where the Zombie Apocalypse will begin.
More African-Americans than Scotch-Irish in Social Distress in this Region.

Both groups are disproportionately represented in the Statistics.

How bad is the opioid crisis?

jack
anthony

Jack and Anthony are sons of my assistant h.s. football coach. Both young men were warm, friendly, and parents of young children. Both died of opioid overdose within six months of each other.

This is bad, very bad stuff. Our communities are dying literally.

Eleven blue men

man turned blue after ingesting colloidal silver
In 1944 eleven elderly men of the street were taken in the emergency room during the 24th of sept.
These guys had taken breakfast at the same restaurant in which sodium nitrate was served in place of table salt. All the men were blue and in shock. All but one of the eleven died.

prerogatives of English Monarch

God save the Quee
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inKSvLk7kiI

All English are subjects not citizens.
All English swear allegiance to the monarch.
All English institutions belong to the monarchy.

It is a royal perogative (by law) to;
 Dismiss parliament,
 Dismiss the military,
 Dismiss the police,
Dismiss any civil agency of goverment,
 Declare war.

be careful of dictums!

I've spent so much time
I admit but cannot account for
thinking  about things I've seen
and that have been affected
by my behavior.
of stuff I do, stuff i've done
I'm not especially careful
nor conscious
of my behavior
I do something
and follow the dictum
don't just stand there
do something
and I have
and gradually but assuredly
the consequence
the results
lose their opaqueness.
they become translucent
and little by little they
become transparent
a mist that means something
only to me
little weight and import
usually gradually ebbing
if lucky leaving a short
trail of eskers and detritus
a little flotsam and jetsam
until they fail to  exist.
until they fail to be

Sounds bout right!

Blessed Easter
