climate change in middle ages

The most comprehensive study yet of global temperature over the past 1,000 years by more than 240 scientific studies has shown that today's temperatures are neither the warmest over the past millennium, nor are they producing the most extreme weather - in stark contrast to the claims of the environmentalists.
The review, carried out by a team from Harvard University, examined the findings of studies of so-called "temperature proxies" such as tree rings, ice cores and historical accounts which allow scientists to estimate temperatures prevailing at sites around the world.

The findings prove that the world experienced a Medieval Warm Period between the ninth and 14th centuries with global temperatures significantly higher even than today.
They also confirm claims that a Little Ice Age set in around 1300, during which the world cooled dramatically. Since 1900, the world has begun to warm up again - but has still to reach the balmy temperatures of the Middle Ages.
The timing of the end of the Little Ice Age is especially significant, as it implies that the records used by climate scientists date from a time when the Earth was relatively cold, thereby exaggerating the significance of today's temperature rise.

Meet Harriet

Darwin explored the Galapagos Islands in the 1830’s.  Among the specimens he brought back was his lifelong pet Harriet, a 4-5 year old turtle.  Darwin died in 1882 age 79. Harriet died only in 2006 at 175, a resident Steve Irwin’s at Australian Zoo.  Amazing

Thanks science.

Ground breaking research by anthropologists at Kent State University  solves one of science’s most important mysteries. Following reports that Inuits made knives from human feces, the ‘scientists; collected their own feces and formed frozen knives.  It didn’t work, leaving them with a handful of sh-t. God, I‘m glad that’s resolved.

my fishing trip

Fly fishing in white water with snow flakes falling and temps just near freezing. Spent most of the day trekking along a mountain stream. Using heavy line and about a 6 foot leader with a spotted deer fly attached, I hit a pocket of real beauties that were hitting like the devil was chasing'em.

The best one got away of course but the second best took 20 minuets to land. Luckily I remembered my camera on this trip.

my own ground hog

In the large field behind my house lives a grand dad of a ground hog. He’s a survivor of local vehicular traffic, stray dogs, and predatory snakes.

Well the ole guy is a reliable predictor of spring perhaps as well as Puxatony Phil.

This time of year the open filds behind my house burn from dryness and heat.
My friend comes into my green yard to feed through the night while leaving signs of his extended presence.
