In 1976 a priest followed a beggar to a cave at mountain side about 120 miles from Soul. The beggar called Grandpa Choi was the sole provider for 18 homeless unable to care for themselves.

Father john began providing for these folks. He founded the catholic program kkottongnae. Today over a million support this providing care for the indigenous world wide. Doesn't get the news but it's what the proper church do.!

The UK's National Sh_t Museum.

 The British are very odd or have a very odd sense of humour, or both.   Since 2016 they have had a  National Poo Museum featuring hundreds of examples of animal faeces collected from around the world.  Add some 140 million year old dinosaur poo and you have an attraction, known as the POO-VRE that draws large crowds, produces school projects, and pays its bills.  I mean, what can you say.  Odd.

Jeff Rohrer, a former linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, publicly came out as gay on Wednesday.  Rohrer, 59, will marry his partner of three years, Joshua Ross, 36, at an elaborate ceremony on Sunday.  He has the honor of being the first NFL player to marry a man.  Best wishes to the groom and groom, or is it bride and bride, no probably groom.

West Virginia has a serious drinking problem.

The substance abuse problem in WVa is well known and unfortunately growing.  It now extends to the animal population.  Milton WVa police responding to complaints of rabid raccoons found a 'gaze' of stumbling raccoons, laughing and trying to pick up a very ugly female.  The problem, fermented crap apples.  Once the word got around a crowd gathered to harvest what was left lying under the trees.

"General Sherman"

Giant Sequoias which only grow in Sierra Nevada, California, are the world’s biggest trees (in terms of volume). The biggest is General Sherman in the Sequoia National Park – one behemoth of a tree at 275 feet over 52,500 cubic feet of volume and over 6000 tons in weight.

General Sherman is approximately 2,200 years old – and each year, the tree adds enough wood to make a regular 60-foot tall tree.

Susanna Dinnage has been named as the new chief executive of the England's Premier football League.  Only the league's 3rd chief executive.  Dinnage joins from media organization Discovery, where she was the global president of the Animal Planet channel.  SHe knows nothing about the sport, but is fairly attractice for 56.

Two years ago French artist Clet Abraham went around Edinburgh painting humorous additions to road signs.  Not in out of the way neighborhoods but on busy streets.  The City  immediately ruled them illegal but left them while the city council decides what to do to preserve the 'fine art work.'   Suspect they'll never come down.  Wonderful, whimsical country.

A man was an atheist with a good life, a beauty loving wife, and modern home. In his mid 50's his wife becopame ill and quickly died. The man would stand before her grave in tears wanting their separation to end. He could not accept their circumstance as permanent.

Two years later he became a catholic. The Old Testament says that a righteous man's fondest desire will be made upon his leaving this earth.

I have never had such a wish,,.do you? This tale gives much to ponder.

John was not a catholic and found this practice comforting. Just before his passing he asked to speak with the sister to learn more about being catholic. He was converted to Catholicism on his death bed.

In September 1961, "A" Company, 35th Battalion (UN service) of the Irish Army were assigned to protect an isolated outpost in the Congo.  While attending an open-air mass, they were attacked by a force of 3,000–5,000 local warriors, and Belgian, French and Rhodesian mercenaries armed with a mix of light and heavy armament and an armed airplane.  The lightly armed 600 Irish soldiers held out for 5 days, The besieged Irish radioed to their headquarters: "We will hold out until our last bullet is spent. Could do with some whiskey.” The Irish inflicted heavy casualties without loss of any of their own.  The surrendered when ammunition was exhausted. Neither the UN nor the Irish government acknowledged the battle nor honored the men until 2004. First and only Irish foreign war. Great movie, Netflix.

He recounts chasing  the woman away with an ember from the fire, marking the door with a cross in soot and kneeling in prayer to preserve his chasity. Two angels appeared and wrapped his waist in a chord of purity and he was never tempted by lust again.

Good Luck Bad Luck!

There is a Chinese story of a farmer who used an old horse to till his fields. One day, the horse escaped into the hills and when the farmer's neighbors sympathized with the old man over his bad luck, the farmer replied, "Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?" A week later, the horse returned with a herd of horses from the hills and this time the neighbors congratulated the farmer on his good luck. His reply was, "Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?"

Then, when the farmer's son was attempting to tame one of the wild horses, he fell off its back and broke his leg. Everyone thought this very bad luck. Not the farmer, whose only reaction was, "Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?"

Some weeks later, the army marched into the village and conscripted every able-bodied youth they found there. When they saw the farmer's son with his broken leg, they let him off. Now was that good luck or bad luck?
