Professor Stephen Hawking argues that God is 'not necessary' to explain the universe and the Big Bang

  1. scientists believe ontly that which can be shown to exist, i.e. evidence. There is none of that in religious or spiritual belief. Now, spiritual and/or religious advocates that while there is no dirext evidence of God, there is a ton of secondary and they go on blah blahing about it.
Ultimately, both sides MUST make a leap of Faith to come to their conclusion. The scientist for example, studies math and physics and works that out to the beginning of the universe, yet there is nothing certain about those rules, laws, constants, etc, especially now when the physical laws are being challenged all the time. We do not and cannot know all that is physical nor all that is spiritual. If there is a Higher Power, its likely to be so different from what we believe that physicists and proselytizers collide at some point.

  2. I should have majored in philosophy instead of aphorismatics. You can say anything evidently.

  3. what i'm saying is that as scientists interpret "fact" (eg speed of light), the further away from now that they draw their conclusions, the more uncertain this "hard data" becomes. How can one conclude what happened at the big bang without ASSUMING that the physical laws we know were the same back then. I think i just stirred the mud. sorry.

  4. The speed of light is not constant. Scientists have measured variations, and for many years its been known.
