The Irish postal service delivered this letter in May.  Instead of a postal address or a recipient's name, the sender had drawn a map of where they believed the farm to be, together with the following, in English: "Country: Iceland. City: Búðardalur. Name: A horse farm with an Icelandic/Danish couple and three kids and a lot of sheep!"  The sender had also added a further clue to the intended recipient: "the Danish woman works in a supermarket in Búðardalur."

On hot tropical day, I puts my dog on a line under his favorite tree. He has scratched a hole where he keeps contently for hours. Similarily, my brothers dog, Penelope goes stright to her tree as they walk out the door.

Sister's of charity cemetery at seaton hill

This cemetery , Est 1889, serves the nuns who died  in the order of Mother Seaton's Sisters of Charity. There are over 890 graves in recent count. Mother Seaton died in 1821, and was buried in Emmitsburg, Pa.  Her legacy for that era rivals Mothers Theresa, and Angelica of the 21st century.

Yesterday our beloved aunt, Sr Helen Elizabeth McElwain age 92 yr 9 mo, was interned there after 75 yrs in the convent.

A Parting Message

A childhood friend of ours, Ronny Lipscomb, died last week.   He had been ill and, according to his obit, planned his funeral etc.  Most interesting was the final line of that obit. "In lieu of flowers please honor Ron's memory in casting your vote for Donald J. Trump in the upcoming presidential election in November."  He was a nice kid, RIP.

Marion Barry Jr, the only son of notorious DC mayor Marion Barry,  died early Sunday of an apparent drug overdose. The younger Barry, 36,  failed in his bid for a political career and recently lost his father’s home when he could not make mortgage payments.  As a young police officer  I arrested Barry Sr before his political career for carrying a pistol during a riot.  Later I had him standing outside his office door at a ‘community activist organization’ when a colleague suspected of being a police informant was tortured to death by members of his staff.  (the community organization closed a few months later when the federal government found 13 million dollars in grant money missing).  I could go on.

I Love A Truly Beautiful Moment.

I watched the spectacular rugby victory of the Figi National Team over Great Britain at the Olympics.  It was in fact a slaughter.  But the greatest moment, one of unimaginable beauty, is when, immediately after the final whistle, the team and staff assembled on the pitch to sing a gospel hymn, tears running down their faces.  Just breath taking.
