viking skull in National Museum of Ireland

The Viking Age in Ireland (800 AD to 1150 AD) was very important to the growth and cultivation of Dublin.  Most of the culture, trading systems, and art styles of Ireland originated from the Vikings.

This Viking age artifact shows some two dozen wounds.

  1. two dozen wounds, 14 of those inflicted by kinsman in drunken brawls, 4 from walking drunk into posts, trees, etc, 4 from contact with the floor, and 2 from battle.

  2. correction to previous comment: it is likely than many of the wounds occurred during traditional viking child rearing and not from drunkenness. sorry for the error.
