an heir of the Cadbury chocolatier family. Famous for ten years of TV series Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

  1. My favorite Sherlock portray-er. some might prefer Basil the Rathbone but Jeremy, by adding a tangible element of "human vulnerability" to the character, became for me the consummate Sherlock.

  2. hell, i might as well rate some more dudes. Robert Downey - no way; too american, too commercial, and too obviously full of himself. Benedict Cumberbatch -a great performer and very good at Sherlock but the show was unable to "seep him into the proper Sherlock ambiance". There are numerous others and I'd like to hear from anyone with an opinion.

  3. Peter Cushing did a good job for a TV sherlock in the 60's. Believe it not Larry Hagman, Leonard Nimoy, and John Cleese all had a go at it. Some more serious players include Nicol Williamson, Michael Caine, Christopher Lee, and Sir John Gielgud. The list goes on and on.
