Nun News

What is the difference between Nuns and Sisters?  Nuns devote themselves to a monastic life of contemplation and prayer, normally in a cloister of some sort.
Sisters dedicate their lives to service in the name of the Lord, working in hospitals, clinics, schools, hospices, community services etc.  No bingo.

Did you know that there are hundreds of different orders, with specific goals and purposes and different founders (usually).  Sisters and Nuns (the Order, not the individual) chose a Habit unique to their own Order, so there have been many different kinds of Habits.  Since the whatchamacallit Encyclical of Pope John 23, nuns and sisters have been free to wear special uniform or not.  Some simply modified to look more modern.

I have several favorite Habit Styles, if that's permissible  I'll tell you later.  What is your favorite nun gear?
