When JP and I were very little we would spend weekends with our grandparents, Hughie had been given a TV by his colleagues on retirement. Long before we had one. Probably 1949 or 50. Lizzie thought it an 'occasion of sin.' So it was turned on only for Friday night fights when we were allowed to stay up and eat Wheaties with our grandfather. Otherwise the TV would be one all day Sunday after mass. They were faithful to the Bishop Sheen lectures, 'life is worth living.' I have watched them recently, ridiculous, meaningless gibberish and very gay. But afterwards the Billy Graham Crusade. Devout Catholics, they loved this man.
