Freddy McConnell is surgically a transgender man, biologically a female at birth. A single parent, he got pregnant and gave birth after he had legally become a man but before surgical alterations. He has filed suit to be officially registered as the child’s ’father.’ The law requires that a person who carries and gives birth to a baby is legally a ‘mother.’ He argues the law is discriminatory.
