Did Van Gogh really kill himself?

A number of thinkers doubt that Vincent van Gogh committed suicide.  The romantic idea of a troubled genius taking his own life; the subsequent spike in sales; and the worldwide endearment to this myth, make it difficult for one to be taken seriously if you don't buy into the story.

A couple of prize-winning writers (Steven Naifeh and Gregory White Smith), and a well-known handgun forensic expert (Dr Vincent Di Maio ) have studied the limited extant evidence.  Based primarily on the forensics of the shooting itself there is no doubt that Vinny was shot in a manner other than suicide.
