clearing items of funk

You have some shoes that have been used too often and contain a permanent odor problem.  Solution one:  put them outside and let them soak up some direct sunlight for awhile.  The UV will kill bacteria that causes the smell.  Solution two: put the shoes in a plastic bag and leave them in the freezer for a day or two.  Same process - kill bacteria - same result of fresh smelling shoes.  I do my shoes and if I've got a hot date, some of my unmentionables that way.  I haven't washed a pair of undies in months!  Haven't had a date either.
Freezers - good for more than just ice and broccoli!
