The kinglets or crests are a small group of birds sometimes included in the Old World warblers The scientific name is derived from the Latin word regulus for "petty king" or prince, and comes from the colored crowns of adult birds.
The kinglets are found throughout North America. There are two types, one being the Golden-crowned Kinglet and the other is the Ruby-crowned Kinglet. These small forest birds are heard more often than they are seen with their song...Zee..Zee..Zee as they migrate south for the winter.
jpr: heard'em in the back field recently!
