The English hunted their native beavers to extinction several hundred years ago. None have been seen since. A few weeks ago 2 mating pairs and some young were spotted on the Otter river. Fearing someone introduced American beavers illegally, creating an environmental risk, they were captured. DNA test revealed they were actually native English beavers back from the dead. NONE KNOWS FROM WHENCE THEY CAME.
